Momma I Made It

Hello there!

I am now officially a college student. You know what that means! If you guessed an even more declined drive to attend the pointless institution of high school and a more inclined imagination to all the things I could be doing with my life instead of writing a timed write for Lit then DING DING DING you win!

I found out about a week ago but haven't had the time to post about it since. Currently at this very moment I'm switching from trying to find a roommate on Facebook, attempting to write my "timed" write, and of course typing this. For any other soon to be college freshmen in a tizzy over finding a roommate believe me you are not alone. It's awkward and uncool and every single person sounds like those unsettling dating profiles, myself included. All I'm saying is that the best thing to be is yourself. Don't try to impress anyone, be honest, and I'm absolutely positive that a roommate you don't absolutely hate will be in front of you soon enough.

But back to college. Its here. I have a home for the next four years (hopefully) and its incredibly soothing to know that I am actually going to be continuing my education at a school that I don't distaste. I mean sure its not a part of the city landscape but I'm ready to embrace whatever is thrown my way. Plus my crush from middle school is going to be a sophomore there next year so I can relive those years that way. I think the knowledge that theres something after high school is pushing me to just suck it up and finish the year strong. I recommend this strategy to everyone. Whether it be high school, college, a dumb job, a boring commitment you've made, just know that its all going to help you somewhere down the road!

My brother is going to be a junior next year (at my same college can someone say brother/sister bonding fun time) and he told me that even though college is better, that high school will be missed. I get that. Despite the annoying people, inedible food, mundane lessons, and unhelpful teachers I do know I'll miss the structure and ease of the routine. But come on college has really good food just sitting in those dining halls waiting to be eaten and you don't have a curfew. So yes, I'll miss high school (maybe, kinda, eh) but college is going to open a lot of doors and give me the freedom to pursue the education I choose.

Oh and one last thing, Go Dukes!

xxxxx
